How do I earn money from the partner program?

There are two ways to earn: by referring users and by creating premium content.

The first way is by referring users through social media. Any users that are sourced through your referral link, profile link, deck links, or article links are tracked as your referred users. Whenever a user you've referred makes a purchase with real money, partners in our program earn half of the revenue from subscriptions and content purchases that otherwise would go to Keep or Mull. This is typically 50% of 30% of a purchase, or 15% of the total purchase price. (For example, if a user purchases content with $10 equivalent gems, then the content creator would get $7, the referrer would get $1.50, and the Keep or Mull platform would get $1.50. If you are both the referrer and the content creator, you would get $8.50 total, or 85%.)

The second way is by creating premium articles. If you create content like deck guides, sideboard guides, or other premium articles, you can sell them on Keep or Mull. You can set your own gems price for the content and will earn 70% of the sale of that content. (That would increase to 85% for users that you referred.)

Who would be best as an partner?

We are especially interested in partners that have a strong ability to refer new users to Keep or Mull. This includes having social media reach or an audience on sites like Twitch or YouTube. Please include any relevant information about your audience in the application form.

If you are also a content creator of deck guides, sideboard guides, or other premium content, we would love to hear about that too! We are looking for partners that can create high-quality content for sale on the site.

How can I share my referral link?

We expect partners to share links through their social media or platforms like Twitch, Discord, Reddit, Instagram, or YouTube. When you publish new content, it is encouraged to share that content as well. Please abide by any terms of service or rules of the platform you are using, and don't be spammy.

How long do referred users count towards revenue sharing?

Users only count as referred users for the first twelve months, not in perpetuity. Any chargebacks, refunds, or website errors will not be eligible for payout to the partner. Keep or Mull may run paid ads or other marketing campaigns that link to your content, in which case those users will not count as your referred users, since they were sourced through our efforts. See the Terms of Service for more details.

What makes Keep or Mull better than alternatives like Patreon?

Keep or Mull is made specifically for Magic: the Gathering, which attracts a regular audience with daily community engagement. With Patreon and other alternatives, you're largely dependent on your own audience. At Keep or Mull, your content is discoverable by the entire community who come here regularly. This value add is why Keep or Mull has a default take rate of 30% (typical of platforms like Steam, Apple, and Google). By comparison, Patreon has a take rate of 8% for the Pro plan, and 12% for the Premium plan, but also charges payment processing fees which are 2.9% plus 30 cents. When all is said and done, the effective rate is comparable to Keep or Mull's take of 15% for referred users (you get 70% of the purchase plus 15% because you referred them, making 85% total, equal to a Keep or Mull take rate of 15% in that case).

Put another way, if Keep or Mull's community can drive 15% more purchases of your guides than you could on your own, then it is worth putting your guides here. This should be an easy decision, and even popular influencers should see increased purchases above and beyond what they'd get by promoting their content themselves.

The other major difference is that Keep or Mull is not built around subscriptions to creators, but rather individual purchases of guides. This fits well with what a lot of players want: since they're often changing formats and decks, they don't want to pay a monthly fee to a specialized subscription. They'd rather just buy content when they need it, and Keep or Mull is built around that idea. You can keep your Patreon but also use Keep or Mull to reach a wider audience and earn additional money.

Is there a minimum payout or other restrictions?

Since we have to pay for payment processing fees and process the payouts, we have a minimum payout of $100 at most once per month. There is also a waiting period from the time a purchase was made on the site to when it is eligible for payout to account for possible chargebacks or refunds (typically 30 days).
